The HomeOwnership Center provides:

  • Homebuyer workshops and one-on-one assistance
  • Reverse Mortgage, foreclosure prevention, and financial literacy education and counseling
  • Access to special lending programs
  • Home repair loans through the Revolving Loan Fund for needed health, safety, and accessibility projects

What are rehab services?
The HomeOwnership Center provides home repair lending to overcome health and safety concerns for homeowners who cannot acquire conventional financing, and for other important improvements or repairs.

What services are available?
Home repair services may include:

  • Affordable loans
  • Technical support
  • Home maintenance workshops
  • Special grants
  • Home inspection
  • Assistance in creating job specs and finding estimates
  • Ongoing project support

What do I do?
The homeowner is responsible for such things as:

  • Providing documents required for program eligibility, i.e. income verification, tax bill, proof of insurance, etc.
  • Filling-out necessary paperwork
  • Deciding what needs to be done
  • Making final decision on who does the work
  • Contracting directly for any required labor

Who is eligible for this program?

Register for a HomeBuyer Education Workshop

The HomeBuyer Education Workshop is the starting point for all HomeBuyer Services at RuralEdge's NeighborWorks® HomeOwnership Center. The workshops are presented monthly after completing the workshop, participants are assigned to a HomeOwnership Specialist who will work with them to determine the best route to ownership. Counselors will work with you throughout the homebuying process.

There is a one-time $50 pre-registration fee ($60 if you don’t pre-register) for the workshop. There is no additional cost for the one-on-one assistance no matter how long it takes for you to successfully purchase a home.

To register for the next workshop, complete the Personal Profile and mail or bring to us along with your pre-registration fee. Your answers in this Profile will allow your HomeOwnership Specialist to gather the information necessary to design your personal path to homeownership.

 VHFA Homes for Sale

 

The Vermont Housing Finance Agency is selling homes located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont as part of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.  The purchase price includes a subsidy to enhance affordability.  The subsidy is included as a second mortgage which stays with the home as long as its owner meets eligibility requirements.
